Accompanied by Strings of Resentment

Listening to sad, angsty music. I hear perfectly pitched cries for help accompanied by strings of resentment. Pain. Anger. Lyrics that feel all too familiar. Life’s refrain. The unforgettable hook that refuses to let go. Or more honestly, the hook that I refuse to let go of. I’d rather wallow along humming to the melody. For if I let go. If I forgive, I may forget. Forget the words to my sad song. And without these words, without my sad song, who am I?

Be well,

A searingly honest self-examination. Is forgiveness so bad a thing? Is forgetting really worse than remembering? Who will you be if you let go of the hurt and resentment – the answer is a lighter, unburdened you. Someone who can remember how to dance!

All things I understand when it comes to others but oh so hard when it comes to applying it to myself.
