A Golden Union

“In 99 words (no more, no less), write a story about a golden onion.”

Prompt from Carrot Ranch via Sam “Goldie” Kirk

Gunion, had awaited this day all his life — from his early green years through his awkward transitional years to his current golden self. He’d been in some relationships before. Pealed some skins. Caused some tears. But never had he felt this way before. TaeTae was the love of his life. The perfect companion. If only his parents would agree. They claimed she was too plain, her skin too earthy — not up to his golden standards. And worse they said she had too many eyes — the sign of a gold digger. But Gunion didn’t care. He would not let the age-old prejudices between the O’Nions and the P’Taters get in the way of his love. Today it was time for them to finally wed — a truly golden union.

Thanks Sam for sharing the prompt. I didn’t follow the word count criteria because, honestly, I was too lazy to do the counting. I just had some fun with it.

Be well,

Monty

  3. This was smartly done. Nice job! Glad I could inspire you to craft this. I like the play on names and the tale was fun to read.
