This poem is a part of the poetic ‘scavenger hunt’ designed by @murisopsis from A Different Perspective. This time the theme is Names, as in poetic forms that feature a name (e.g. one of the prompts is to write a poem in the form of “Amandas Pinch” — a form I’ve personally never heard of before). There are thirteen prompts in total so this is more manageable then a daily commitment challenge. Check out all the prompts and the way it works here and join in if your up for some poetic puzzling. Enjoy!
Prompt 1
Write a poem in the form of an Amanda’s Pinch OR write and acrostic using the name Amanda.
A Different Perspective
Amanda’s Pinch is a syllabic form with syllable count 12/12/10/8/8/10/12/12 and rhyme scheme abcDDcba (line 5 being a reframe of line 4). All the lines are also supposed to feature alliteration. See all the form rules here.
Dangerous Detours
Amanda’s lush lips plumply puckered for a kiss
Her eye shadow’s shade saying come hither hither
Curves cutting close corners without warning
Dangerous detours are ahead
Dangerous detours are ahead
And I’m so so ready to start swerving
In wild wanton ways together with her with her
And Amanda’s baby blues beg me not to miss
There is something about the combination of rhyming and alliteration of this form that compelled me to write something less weighty — just light and fun. I’m interested to see what other’s do with this form.
Be well,
Monty

Love it! Great alliteration, and the repetition of words (besides the doubled line) is really effective.
