The Dog & Me

He rests a few feet away from me,

Seemingly pleased enough, being in my proximity,

Nose tucked into tail, Showing off his spotted back,

His eyes flutter open, briefly, checking in on me,

Still there, they see, before closing lightly.

Sensing his attention, my eyes flutter open,

Seeing him there resting, they close again peacefully,

Our evening ritual, the dog and me,

Enjoying each other, quietly.
