The Command (2022 NaPoWriMo #19)

With a little digging I found another series of poetry prompts being provided by NaPoWriMo – 30 Poems in 30 Days. I’m starting in the middle and I’ll see how it goes as to whether I work to catch-up with the prior prompts or just carry on forward.

Prompt 19

Write a poem that starts with a command

NaPoWriMo.net

Ok. I’m usually more of a influencer than a tell-to-doer…let’s see how I adjust to this command.

The Command

Stop Buzzing Me!
Here I am sitting down to write a bit of poetry,
And you’re bombarding me with your buzzing spree.

Oh, off you go finally, thank you;
Go about and dance with the flowers, you’ve plenty to do;
Wait! Don’t come back! I’ll swat you, I swear. It’s true.

I don’t want to do you any harm,
But your buzz is causing me great alarm;
Go on! Go on! Go tend to your pollination farm

Ahhh! You seem to have listened at last;
Your buzzing has faded into the past;
But just in case I’d better finish this poem fast.

Well, sometimes life provides poetry without my asking. By the way, as soon as I finished the poem, the little “buzzard” returned. I guess I’ll just have to learn how to share my garden a little more graciously.

Be well,

Monty

      I know right?! I’m feeling bad about being all bossy and obnoxious about it, but it was in the prompt. What to do?
