Here is my latest post for the #AtoZChallenge for April 2022. My title and theme for this challenge is “Seriously Silly Poetry” in recognition of April being poetry month and also wanting to do something fun and playful to celebrate spring. I hope you enjoy this series.
Raindrops
Plipity, plipity, plop,
Sploosh, plip, splat,
Plipity, sploosh, splosh,
Splat, splosh, sploosh.
Tricklely, sploosh,
Tricklely, sploshity, splash,
Kaplunkity, plop, splat,
Kaplunkity, plunking, plunk.
Cool raindrops
Splashing upon my cheeks
Cleansing away the tear streaks.
Be well,
Monty

This brought back memories! A friend from HS enlisted in the army. She was so homesick and physically exhausted but was not able to show it for fear of reprisals that she would only cry in the shower so no one could tell… the red eyes -due to soap in her eyes!!

Aww. How bittersweet that memory.

❤️ thx Michelle. Having just received a rejection on my latest book query, I’m also drawn to this poem and at least figuratively appreciate the idea of rain washing away tears.

It’s ok. I’m proud to have tried. Just a little “down” in the moment of getting the news. Thanks for your kind words.

At least you tried! I am yet to do that. I think fear of querying is why I have not finished editing…

Well, now I feel silly because I read most of this piece with a smile on my face. The sounds were just so funny to me. (Kudos to you on coming up with those!!! How creative!) And then came the sad ending 😦
